Response Of Margot Robbie To Lady Gaga Taking Over The Role Of Harley Quinn In Joker 2

It has been announced that Lady Gaga will be playing Harley Quinn in Joker 2, and Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie couldn’t be more excited. According to Robbie, who said that she is “so happy” to see someone else take on the Harley role, Robbie revealed that she always hoped to see the character become “like Macbeth or Batman.”

“It makes me so happy, because I have always said that my goal is for Harley Quinn to become one of those characters that never fails to get played by great actors, just like Macbeth or Batman. It’s kind of like someone gets to do their Batman, or someone gets to do their Macbeth. In many cases, I feel that these characters are not so female — Queen Elizabeth I, and beyond that, which I was fortunate to play as well. I was like, “Wow! Cate Blanchett did Queen Elizabeth I. I get to play it too.” It’s such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be a character that other actors get to play. I think she will do amazing things with it..”

She has played Harley Quinn in several films, starting with Suicide Squad in 2016. As part of 2021’s reboot/sequel (requel?) The Suicide Squad, Robbie’s portrayal of the character was one of the few things carried over. In 2020’s Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Robbie played Harley Quinn herself, making her the most synonymous with the character.

Lady Gaga plays Harley Quinn in Joker 2, opposite Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker

In a sequel to Joker, in which an alternate version of The Clown Prince of Crime will be presented alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, Lady Gaga will play another Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix. There are, of course, a number of variants, a number of multiverses, and unconnected franchises that don’t necessarily mean Margot Robbie’s role as Harley Quinn has ended.

She seems happy enough to have made Harley Quinn a sought-after role. Just like The Dark Knight and Joker before her, there is no word whether she will return to DC.

It will tell the story of Harley Quinn’s relationship with Joker in Joker 2, titled Joker: Folie Deux (roughly translated as “a delusion shared by two people in close association”). The most intriguing aspect of Joker: Folie a Deux is that it will be a musical, with musical sequences depicting Harley Quinn’s experience with the Joker from her perspective.

A movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland will be directed by Todd Phillips and released on October 4th, 2024.
